USBC Open Championships media relations manager Matt Cannizzaro blogs from the Open Championships

Update from Arlington

Greetings from Arlington.

I am sitting in my cubical in our temporary office in Arlington. Those of us who have made the move to Texas are working here until the new building (621 Six Flags Dr.) is ready sometime in October. The view from either building is pretty nice, and includes Six Flags Over Texas, the Ballpark at Arlington (Texas Rangers) and the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, which I believe will be used next season.

Lately, I have been focused on the coverage and promotion of the U.S. Women's Open, which will air on ESPN each Sunday until Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. EDT. With that event under control, I am starting to turn my attention back to the USBC Open Championships.

In the coming weeks, I will be updating USBCopen.com to reflect the 2009 event in Las Vegas. By now, most checks from Albuquerque have been reveived and cashed, so it's time to look ahead.

Progress continues to be made with the new scoreboards and the layout for our return to Vegas, and we are nearing 16,000 teams. Plans are coming together for the tournament program, and the management team will be getting together in November to finalize all of the details and procedures. Also, planning for the USBC Masters and WTBA Women's World Championships continues.

And aside from my usual duties, I also get the chance to cover a new event this year, and I will be heading to the QubicaAMF World Cup in November with Derek Eoff and Shannon Pluhowsky. It should be a fun experience.

Luckily, everything seems to be going well.
