I'm down to one league a week, and only shoot the USBCs each year, so I only buy new equipment every couple of years. As such, I'm bringing two balls -- a Columbia Action and a Columbia White Dot for 10-pins.

If I can't make those work with different speeds and hand positions, I'll die.

    Flying out today.

    Taking the following equipment

Ebonite Double Excel - drilled stacked with pin about 1/2" right of the ring finger and about the 5 o'clock position
Storm Razor Wire - Pin 1/4' aboce ring finger and about the 2 o'clock position (shot 289 with this one at state - damn that 10 pin in the 11th)
Storm Hot Rod - same pin location
Visonary Slate Blue Gargoyle - drilled straight up with pin centered between fingers about 1/2" above them
    Storm Spare Ball

I also plan onpurchasing a Storm Shift while I am there and having it drilled for my release and to fit the tournament layout.

Will let you folks know how it went after I bowl team Friday the 6th at 2:30 and d/s Saturday the 7th at 7:00 a.m.

Just drilled three new balls for Reno.  Listed in likely out of bag order.  All balls drilled by the master, Tony Rado of Tony's Pro Shop in Mt Laurel, NJ.

#1 MoRich Awesome Revs - Layout provided specifically for the tournament by the man himself; Mo Pinel.  Surface at 2000 grit.

#2 Columbia Blue Dot.  Most likely my most used ball during the tournament.

#3 MoRich WMB OOB finish.  Extremely aggressive drill.  Might be the only chance I'll ever see enough oil to use it.

Haven't decided on #4 yet, but I'm leaning toward my Track Rule Delta 1 with around 4000 surface.  Shot 802 during league on our house shot a few weeks ago.  That automatically put it on my favorite ball list.

Re: What's in your bag for this years Open?

    Alright folks,
and now for the somewhat disappointing news.
I bought a Storm Shift and used it.  I personally loved this ball once I figured out the line for it.
team shot 523, doubles I had a hard time waking up at 7 am (hey, that's my story and I am sticking to it) and shot a very disappointing 423 (low score due to simply being unable to convert easy spares).  Moved one pair over for singles and shot 201, 147(again with the spares), and a 216.

I throw the ball with very little hand and mostly stay behind the ball with a ball speed of around 15mph.

the line I FINALLY found was this.....stand way the hell left, set the ball down around the 18 board and send it out to a breakpoint at the second marker board on the 10 board.  This line was awesome.  If I could hit it.  This is just not a shot I am used to throwing so was somewhat inconsistent with it.

There ya go folksies.  I hope my crap shooting helpssomeone out.

Re: What's in your bag for this years Open?

    Hey, my first post!

    I'm bowling 8:30 team squad on 4/16 and 5:30 d/s on 4/17.

Here's what I have to chose from (all 15lb):

Brunswick Fury (pin under, 4" x 3 1/2", box finish)
    Hammer Black Widow (pin over, 4 3/4" x 4", 2000 abralon)
    Ebonite Total NV (Pin over, 5 1/2" x 3 1/2", box finish)
    Brunswick Original Inferno (pin over, 4 3/4" x 4, 2000 polish)
    Storm T-Road Pearl (pin under, 5 1/4" x 4 1/4", box finish)

I need to choose 4.  Any suggestions?  Obviously I will take the Fury for the fresh, but the other 4 are up for grabs.  Any advice from those that have been there would be appreciated.

    Planning on:

    14 clubs and 12 Titlest

    Fury

    Special Agent

    Rule GP2

    Ebonite Adrenaline

    Absolute Inferno

    Trauma ER

    White Dot

All have different pin locations and surface.  May even take an old Firestorm.  Used it last year in Team and have my highest AE with it....1965 at Salt Lake City.  Yes it's old, but so am I

After 28 years, I hope to finally have a clue     We tied Riggs' team last year....hope to beat them this year!  April 29 is the date!
