I was just wondering what the odds are of going to Reno and hoping to get on a team, doubles and singles. I have some friends going and would really like to go, but I have no one to bowl with and I have checked the sub board and have found nothing. So I was wondering if I should just go or would it probably br a waste of my time. I really won't be able to stand it if I go and don't get to bowl.
Thanks
bctkorn,
Have you put yourself on the sub board under looking for a team. I have picked up people from there the last 2 years. Also when you get there find the sub board and put your name and cell phone number on it. I got a sub from there 2 years ago when a person bowling could not show up because of a death in the family. As stated before there is pleanty to bowl other than Nationals. Go and have a good time.

Last year was the first year for my bowling buddy and me. We entered S/D only and we were scheduled to bowl on a Wednesday shift. We arrived on Monday and were "hoping" we could sub on a team. I had a 187 average and my buddy had a 184 average. As soon as we got to Corpus, we checked out the facilities and found the registration booth. We were told we could place our name on the sub board and perhaps get on a team. (I was skeptical as there were about a dozen names on the board, many with averages higher than ours.)
We went out to eat and within one hour of placing my name on the board, I got a call from a team in Indiana that was missing a bowler. It seems the airlines overbooked their flight and someone had to stay behind. As their team checked in, they needed a sub right away.
About an hour after that, my buddy got a call. A team from Massachusetts also had a problem with their flights. If I remember right, one of their guys had his luggage (bowling equipment) misplaced on a flight to Houston. He couldn't make it on time, so those guys used my buddy.
The experience was great for both of us as we got to meet some new people and have an opportunity to bowl in team and AE. Although we have recruited others to go with us this year (we have two full teams), I would definately encourage anyone to enter S/D and take their chances on getting on a team. With weather issues, flight problems, illnesses, deaths in famiilies, etc., it seems subs are always needed and appreciated.

Remember this also. When you find a team make sure they prepaid the All Events. If they did not go to check in and pay the fee. Once you throw 1 ball you cannot enter it. I ran into this in Knoxville my friend and I only entered S & D and found teams when we got there. My friend bowled S & D then was asked to bowl on a team and the spot did not prepay the AE and because he had bowled S & D already he was not allowed to join and he had over 1400 after S & D. It was a tuff leason to learn.
Thanks everyone.
They are bowling April 23-24, but my wife and I were going to go out early if we go, just to treat it as a mini vacation. So we would probably be there Sunday to Wed.
I'm looking for someone to bowl doubles with, my partner bailed, so the spot will still have to be paid. I have a 169 average and am scheduled to bowl May 5th @ 5:30
Someone help please
