New Teams Postbowling for Week 1

We started the season short 2 teams, but have picked them up for week 2.  I can't find any rule or question that addresses the issue of whether or not to allow the two teams to post-bowl for week 1 that they missed.  It seems to me that if they're willing to pay the fees for that week they should be allowed to post-bowl.  Others seem to think that since there was no team on week 1 to request a post-bowl, one shouldn't be granted.  Thoughts?

I would let them bowl. If they bowl each other what possible harm could it do. If you are trying to build your league a little flexability helps. Too many rules in most leagues.

If your league secretary was smart enough to have the two vacant teams oppose each other on week one, I see no problem with letting those two teams post bowl against each other.  Otherwise, let your league board decide what they want to do.

Now having them bowling each other on week 1 would be too simple, wouldn't it?  One team we knew about, the other was an unexpected no-show, so we had two teams bowling bye teams rather than the two vacant teams bowling each other.

    nebsecy,

We has a similar situation last year.  Our solution was that on the second week, after the regular bowling, these two teams bowled for week one.  Their scores were then posted as week one. We had one officer of the league stay as a witness and collect the scores sheets afterwards.  The center had no problem entering these scores into our standing sheets and then in week three everything was as it should be.

Hope this helps answer your question.  Best of luck in the coming season.

It is up to your league board of directors how they wish to proceed.  Personally.....I would have them bowl.

Newbsecy,  This is not an isolated situation,  it occurs all over the country,  more especially in smaller associations.

Not earthshattering,  Let them bowl,  Enter The Scores,  keep on going.

I use a bowling order for the first week that has team #1 vs #2, #3 vs #4, etc. It's perfect for a situation such as this, because you add two teams to the schedule and they're automatically scheduled against one another.

We had an analogous experience last year, when we started with 11 teams and picked up the 12th team for Week 2. The odd team bowled against its blind Week 1. I inquired to the local association as to what to do and was advised that the score for the odd team stands and the new team bowls against its blind for the make-up.

We allow a 3 week period to fill the league, or add new teams.  At that time. if we get new teams, they are allowed to make up weeks missed.
If they come in AFTER that time, then the  BOD has to decide whether they can make up the weeks missed.
I agree, with another poster, adding teams just makes your league better. Add em, let em bowl, and go on.

I allow teams to make up the prize money for the missed weeks and the have them bowl for double points the next time they catch the teams they were suppose to bowl in the schedule. sure I am losing lineage for a week or two,but no big deal if I'm adding bowlers for the season.  The USBC has too many rules. USE COMMON SENSE.
