    Hotels in Detroit

Looking for any info on the following hotels - Best Western Laurel Park, Hyatt Regency, & Metropolitian Hotel(formally Doubletree).

How is the area around the hotels, hotel rating, safety and cleanliness. There must be someone from the area who can help with the answers we all want to know.

What about any(local) restaurants in the area that you would dine at?

It's not what you are looking for but through the USBC travel service the Hyatt looks like a good deal for those not wanting to rent a car.  They are the only hotel, working through the service,  offering shuttle service from the airport and from the hotel to the bowling venue; $105 a night with up to four able to share that cost; if the shuttle schedule looks good, after I check it out, will be booking my wife there.

Superbowl in Canton is only about a 10 min. drive from the airport. Just outside of the airport off of Merriman rd., Wickham Road is basically Hotel Row. the area isn't bad and the hotels are mostly equipped with an indoor pool and rates from $70 and up. A cab ride to and from the bowling center will cost about $30.00 total. There are plenty of restaurants near Superbowl though the only thing within walking distance is a Burger king that's actually in the front parking lot. There are AppleBee's  and other resturants of that nature within a mile heading back east toward I-275.

I would pick the Hyatt if you have a chance - they are awesome hotels. Great beds and usually decent restaurant or lounge and with the shuttle you can't beat it. I believe they are also close to shopping and other restaurants.

Laurel Park isn't far,  just down the freeway,  and it has a mall at Laurel Park,  lots of restaurants too.  On the ride to and from the hotel/bowling alley there are good restaurants at the Ann Arbor Rd. in Plymouth exit and well as all along Ford Rd. heading towards the bowling lanes.   There is a shuttle service for bowlers.  If you click on the link on the far left side that says 'Detroit Host Committee'  it will link you to a page that talks about shuttle service and so much more.

Hi! :o) I live in the Canton, Michigan, area, and I can definitely tell you do not stay at the Hyatt Regency. The Hyatt Regency is in a crappy part of Dearborn right outside the City of Detroit. It's is next to a mall that is overrun with thugs and criminals. I really wouldn't stay at the Metropolitan either because it sounds like it's under new management, and it's right near the airport. The airport isn't in a bad area, but there are better places to stay if you are looking to make a nice time of your trip here. There is a Baymont Inn on Ford Road in Canton that is within 5 minutes of the bowling alley. If you don't have a car, it will cost you about $5 for a cab, and that includes the tip. This hotel is nice, and Ford Road is packed with all kinds of restaurants and shopping. The surrounding area is very nice. I like the Texas Corral restaurant, but there is just about any type of restaurant you could ever think of on Ford Road in the area. There is also a Comfort Inn on Ann Arbor Road in Plymouth (one major street north of Ford Road). It will cost you no more than $15 for a cab. This hotel is nice as well, and Ann Arbor Road has all kinds of restaurants and shopping just west of the hotel in downtown Plymouth, Michigan. The surrounding area is very nice, and Plymouth is a cute little town with lots of character. I would eat at the Box Bar in Downtown Plymouth. Excellent burgers, and hundreds of beers from all around the world. The Best Western Laurel Park that you mentioned is a nice hotel in a nice area. It's right across the street from Laurel Park Mall, and is surrounded by all kinds of restaurants and shopping. The surrounding area is excellent. Haggerty Road (just west of the hotel) is lined with great restaurants. I would try Bahama Breeze or Mitchell's Fish Market. Well, that's my opinion. I wish you good luck in your hotel search. Hello there, Thanks for your feedback about the the hotels.  I will be up there the week of queens and saw an extended stay.  Can you provide information about that area?

It's a good area,  many restaurants in the area.  On Haggerty there is Carraba's Italian grill and down Ford Rd many many more.  Good luck and have fun.

In my opinion, the best areas to stay when you come for the tournament are the following:  Canton, Plymouth, Livonia (west of Merriman Road), Northville, Novi, Farmington/Farmington Hills (although this is quite a drive from the bowling alley), and Westland.  All of these communities offer great restaurants, plenty of shopping, nice golf courses (if you're interested in that), and all types of other activities.  Good luck and have fun at the tournament!  :o)

The Super 8 in Canton on Lotz rd is ok. a lot of truckers stay there. the neighborhood is not bad but there is not too much around there to do.

There is a small family resturant in the parking lot and a mcdonalds with in walking distance. a cab ride from there to the bowling center is about $15.

Thanks for the helpful information.  I am debating between the Days Inn on Plymouth Road in Livonia and the Ramada Romulus at the Airport.  The Ramada is reported to be a bit further away, but it looks nicer from the photos.  Same price, which one would you choose?

Well,  if it were me,  I would probably stay at the Days Inn on Plymouth Rd.  The hotel may not be as nice,  but its hard to tell from photos.  I am more comfortable with the area of the Days Inn,  although it is on a busy road.  It's much closer to the bowling center,  and you will pass many places to eat on the way.  Livonia is a nice community and its next door to Plymouth which is very nice as well.  I hope this helps.
