Deb,
We'll be arriving May 1st and would like to stay near the convention center and the downtown bar hopping area. The "Hotel Blue" looks like a good option on hotels.com at $85 a night. What do you know about this hotel and do you have a better suggestion?
Thanks a bunch!
Ken
Jim,
I'm sorry I couldn't help here. I made a few calls on Saturday morning, and no one was available to bowl. I hope it all worked out for you!

Hi, Ken!
I've never been to Hotel Blue, but I haven't heard anything bad or suspect about it. I think I recall another poster saying they were going to stay there, so maybe they'll pitch in with some information. I've heard good and bad things about the Hyatt and the Doubletree, so I don't know if either of those are better options. But those are pretty much the best hotels for being within walking distance of the convention center and the downtown bar scene. If you'll have a car, you might want to consider the Embassy Suites. It's only about a mile from the convention center and the downtown attractions.
Sorry I'm not more help.
Thanks for trying. We were able to locate two people so we are all set.
Jim
OK, Doctor Doom, Mike, Brian, et al, I'm planning to stop by the Convention Center on Wednesday to say hi. What time do you all plan to arrive prior to your team squad? I'd like to be able to say hi without interrupting you on the lanes. My schedule is open that evening, so if you want to meet prior to heading to the squad room, that'd work well for me.
stay at the emabssy you cheap b!...
You know who
Hello Deb. You are doing a fantastic job of keeping the world informed of everything Albuquerque. It's awesome.
My teammates and I are scheduled to arrive in ABQ May 15 and will be bowling the 16th and 17th. I'd like to catch a Lobos baseball game if our flights are on time, and was wondering if you have directions to their home park. They are scheduled to play Thursday afternoon against TCU.
We will be staying at Embassy Suites and will more than likely be renting a vehicle. Will we even need a vehicle to get to the diamond? I think they are playing their home games at the old Isotopes stadium, which may or may not be near the UNM campus. Any help on directions from Embassy would be great.
Thanks again, Deb!

Deb -
Stop being so helpful!
I don't bowl until early-July, and to avoid peaking too early I haven't spent a lot of time on the forum. Now I am trying to play catch-up and it is overwhelming (I have to get some work done during the day!)
I was in ABQ in 2000 and can't wait to come back. I love how green chiles seemed to be in every dish or every sandwich, without being overwhelmingly spicy. My wife wasn't with me on that trip, and now I am hoping she has as much fun this year as I did then.
I don't have any questions, yet, but I want to thank you in advance for being such a good welcoming committee, and for any answers that might come up between now and July.

The Lobos play their home games at Isotopes Park at 1601 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE. From Embassy Suites, take I-25 south to Cesar Chavez and take the exit heading east. The park is a block east of the interstate at the intersection of Cesar Chavez and University. If you want to take surface streets instead of fighting interstate traffic, just turn left (east) on Lomas from the hotel, go about 3 blocks east and turn right on University. Follow University south to Cesar Chavez. Isotopes Park is part of the university sports complex that includes the football stadium, The Pit (basketball), and the baseball stadium. Yes, you'll need a car to get there, unless the hotel offers shuttle service or you want to pay cab fare.
Hope this helps!
Well, I met "the boys" on Wednesday before their 8:30 p.m. team event, and I must say that there's nothing better for an old lady's ego than to be surrounded by a bunch of good looking men who all want to talk to her. Thanks, guys, for making me feel so special! Your appreciation for my board responses made the whole project worth the effort. I'm almost sorry that I won't be able to do the same thing next year for Vegas. We'll just have to count on "Ask Dave!" to keep us informed.
Again, thank you all for the kind words.
P.S. Doctor Doom ... hope you enjoyed your "crab cake"!
Hi Deb....
Thanks for the mention there but your posts are great! What you've been doing for the event and all the bowlers is amazing.
I may be able to help next year for Las Vegas but I will follow your lead for sure.
I live three hours north (for now) of ABQ and get in on biz and know the town. You're super!

If any of you are older than dirt like me, you might be interested in a couple of concerts being held at the Sandia Casino's outdoor Amphitheater in June. The Doobie Brothers and Chicago will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, and Crosby, Stills & Nash will be there at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24. This is a great venue! Outdoors under the stars and a "cozy" seating arrangement - no nose-bleed seats.

Deb, I've really enjoyed your thread here. It's been very helpful across the board. Don't be put off by some jerk (on the other post) that must have got up on the wrong side of the bed. I'm bowling on May16 (2:30) and 17 (11:40) and all of my guy's from Louisiana are looking forward to coming to Albuquerque. Just wish I had more days there to try more places to eat. I'm going to have to make a trip to the CHILE TRADITIONS store and bring some NM spices home with me. I make a killer chili. Don
