Dave800: To shoot 300 before the new equpipment took hold, that is what is truely impressive. If memory serves me correct, the ring they gave out in the 60's was gold? I don't think they gave out to many of those. I love my yellow dot, have 5 honor scores with that ball. As much as bowling is measured with 300 games, I would ask this: How many 800 series do you have? To me - that is the true measure of a bowler's ability. Pretty hard to get lucky for 36 frames.

I don't think bowling is measured by 300 games anymore. Yeah you feel good personally when you shoot one. Realistically how impressive is it when (in my case) there are 11 other 300's in that league. 800's are a dime a dozen too. We average 3-6 a yr in a handicap league.I have 15 800's but they were all shot since 1986 (once again born too late for the tough conditions).
We have a 2 hander in our town that's only 24 and if we measured a bowler by award scores he's the best that ever laced up a pair of bowling shoes. Here's his stats :
That's impressive, obviuously a single person. Bowling 3 ,4 or 5 nights a week would increase my honor scores considerably. When I was bowling 2 nights a week, I was able to post 3,4 a year, now with just 1 night/week I am shooting for 2 /year. Actually I expect to shoot 1-300 and 1-800 year. got the 300 and 11 in a row, but not the 800 yet.
With the award change coming next year, my ring collection will be coiming to an end.
Actually, we have 2 - 900 series around here. I expect to see a few more of these as new equipment and easy house shots are more common.
MightyFish: He always has spectators (witnesses). Lot of fun to watch. He's also won a couple of the prestigious tourneys in our area.Only time will tell if he can do it for another 10+ years with that style. He already has some physical problems.
Dear USEDTOBEGOOD:
Regardless, that's obviously an extremely impressive resume'.

Dear dave800:
Then, are you from either the Milwaukee area or from Fort Drum, N.Y.?
Milwaukee, lots of talent around here. seems like every week I see someone with 20,30 or 40 300 games in the paper.

Actually, there's 3-900's that have been shot here. Roventini and Wukoman at Classic Lanes and P.J. Geisfelt at Burnham Bowl.
" I'm a lightweight, I only have 26 300's"
You guy's were talking about older 300 rings, here's a real one...................
bump.....
Randy; we mayhave run into each other --I have been at Hartbrook for years... Burnham Bowl, you've got to be kidding ............. How recent on the 900 at Burnahm ??
Did the 3 star masters @ Bowlero for a year as well.
I was thinking of an old ring that Gil Juecter showed me when he was still drilling balls

I've been bowling at Lakeview since I moved to Pewaukee. "it's practically in my backyard as I walk there" Village Bowl and Bluemound also. Used to be at Petroffs in the Falls and All Star Lanes for close to 20 yrs and Duesters. I've been around a long time as I can't remember all the places I've bowled........lol!

Dave i would have loved to had a chance for a ring in the 60's. Unfortunately my parents didn't consumate their marriage until 1968. If only they would have met 15yrs earlier.
