we were in ABQ easter weekend stayed at the Staybridge Inn, if you can get in there for the USBC price it is well worth it,
new building, so it had a few new building problems, the beds were fantastic, we had three suites two with queens and a pull out and the third was a king with a pullout. One of our teammates is leaving for Iraq soon so he brought his wife and we let the two of them take the big room. Any how back on the subject, there was plenty of room for the other eight of us in these two rooms, not much at this exit but the drive is not bad to the venue (Ten minutes on I-25 busy roads) or any of the other places to eat or shop. Thunderbird H-D dealer is at this exit. The staff was Friendly, the Breakfast was good, and above all the other nine said this place made up for a few of the seedier places we have stayed.
Has anyone stayed at the Best Western Executive Suites on Pan American Freeway NE? If so, how did you find conditions? If there are some locals that can comment on the place, please do so. TIA.
TTT
We stay at the Embassy Suites. Very nice and clean, the staff was great. Free breakfast pancake, bacon, sausage, eggs and other things. Than at night from 5:30 to 7:30 free drinks. Very nice for my teammate, I drink diet soda only
I'm staying at the Plaza Inn the final weekend of June. Any current reports of how the place is, what's nearby, etc etc etc
Thanks!!!
I was a guest at the Plaza Inn for the Apr9 thru Apr 12 weekend. I can honestly say that the hotel is very comfortable. The rooms were clean and the housekeeping staff was very efficent. the beds were comfy and the service was excellent. I rented a car but I really didn't need it as the shuttle wuold take you just about anywhere you wanted to go. It only runs until 11:00pm so if you are bowling the 11:30 S/D you'll need transpotation. Now the bad, and its not that bad. Avoid the restaurant at the hotel, it wasn't very good. there is a lounge but we didn't party there too long. there is only 1 ice machine for the whole hotel and sometimes I had towait for ice, also there is only 1 vending machine , for snacks, no sodas. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay there.
Has anyone stayed at the LaQuinta Inn on Iliff Blvd.? I've seen photos of the property and it seemed very nice? Any information would be helpful. Thanks..
I was in Albuquerque from April 27 - May 1. we stayed at the Clubhouse Inn and it was very pleasant. The room was clean, spacious and well maintained. The free WiFi worked well, the breakfast was terrific. The hotel works very hard to keep it a nice place to stay, really took efforts to control who stayed there.
Reserving online, the cost was $75 a day and they billed it in advance, certainly took the sting out getting the final bill.
Old Town was very nice, and La Placitas serves excellant food with huge protions. Prices for souvenirs were decent, but make sure you inspect the stuff to see where it's made. many of the items say "not indian made". The "Covered Wagon" (a gift shop across the street from San Felipe de Neri mission) had very good prices and a lot of authentic Native American crafts. Also a place called New Mexico Bead and Fetish (no, not that kind of shop) that had some really nice native American artifacts and very knowledgeable people.
Hope everyone bowls well.
i also stayed at the plaza inn and it was great. fabulous awesome, etc
conveniant location to airport, convention center restauraunts, casinos etc..
very clean..beds are comfortable as all get out
staff is extremely accomodating
Had some friends stay at Quality Inn and Suites downtown on 4th and the freeway they said they
had a wonderfull stay. hotel was only 1 mile up and they had a FREE shuttle. clean rooms with
a pool and jaccuzi and reasonably priced too
If your going to bowl the side tournaments I don't think you can beat the Barcelona Suites. It is 2 blocks from Leisure Bowl and Holiday Lanes. The BTM rate is $69 for a 2 room suite and that includes a cooked to order breakfast along with great cookies in the evening. Unfortunately I have gained weight while staying here the past 96 days . You can get more information at www.bowlingthismonth.com if your interested.
oldhoop,
Wow, for someone who usually post quite often during the tournament you have been quiet this year. Looks like today you have the day off and are catching up on your post count. Hope everything is going well at the BTM. I enjoyed my first time bowling this year and talking with you. Try and keep me on the + side.
Hi Ray, we are working today. I have stayed away from posting by choice the past 2 months. We have been pretty busy plus I've been dealing with family issues. I'm back and you will probably see me posting on important issues the next couple of months. I love this sport and want to do whatever I can to see things improve. Thanks for bowling The BTM and visiting with me when you were in town. It was a pleasure.
Looking forward to your posts on "important issues". I remember our long discussion in Reno and believe you have a lot of useful insights to what's good, bad, and indifferent in bowling. I think the entire membership will find your opinions interesting and thought provoking.
Thanks Whiteoak--Come by Leisure if your coming to Albuquerque. Interesting how USBC reps continue answering questions with half truths and politically correct answers. Sometimes its about them and not the sport they represent. Interesting that USBC is marketing and sponsoring a tournament that isn"t USBC certified.
