    Ball bag cart heads up

For some time I have used a small chrome collapsible cart to haul my ball bag.  This year I was not allowed past the ball checkin area with the cart.  A supervisor at the information checkin booth was kind enough to point out rule 10 concerning Bowling Bags.  Apparently, the interpretation of this rule is at the discretion of the ball checker.  I was very lucky as I only had one bag with one ball so I was physically able to carry the one bag onto the lanes without difficulty.  If you have any questions about whether your equipment complies with Rule 10 you should ask before you get surprised at ball checkin time.  Have fun and good bowling!!

Sounds like someone had a stick up a most uncomfortable body part that day.

I think he was using one of those fold up luggage carts, not a rolling bag.

I tend to agree with cicada.  I have no idea what rule 10 is, but I have used a folding luggage carrier several times to transport my bowling equipment from the squad room to the lanes.  I do this whenever I have to transport my bowling balls by plane.  I put them in junker two-ball bags for the plane trip because I don't want to see the baggage handlers ruin another four-ball bag and then I use the luggage carrier.

I guess we are lucky to be able to use roller bags, but per USBC rules:

    10. EQUIPMENT

    Bowling Bags

    a. Bags with wheels are permitted.

    b. No “homemade” or “modified” bowling ball carrying equipment is allowed to be used.

The word "modified" seems subject to much interpretation.  I suppose I could just undo one end of the strap on each of my two junker bags and then drag them behind me.  Unless of course Rule 13 or Rule 98 or whatever says that equipment must be carried.

Hello rge.  Just got back from Albuquerque.  What you describe is exactly the situation that I had which was disallowed.  I used a very good, but old, two ball bag for transporting on the plane and then used the carrier to transport the bag (with one ball in it) from the parking lot to the arena.  I don't know why the luggage carrier with wheels is so different than a bag with built-in wheels.  There were so many carts with multiple double bags stacked that you could hardly get to the water cooler......and I wasn't allowed to roll in my one lousy ball on my 'illegal' luggage cart.
