This is the tournament you want to bowl as a side tournament for the USBC in Albuquerque, Isleta Casino has guaranteed 20,000 for 1st place 16,000 for second place third place is a whopping 12,000 and fourth place is 10,000. Lets see, how many entries is that based on normally that would be at least 1000 entries, nope not this tournament this is guaranteed no matter how many entries we get. The rest of the qualifiers will be based on a payout of 1 in 10. Heres how it works come in and pay 100.00 for enrtry and bowl 6 games across three pair of lanes ( house shot) and the top qualifiers will be asked to come back on September 14th, and bowl for the top money. Qualifiers will be based on 1 out of every 10 entries, if we get 100 entries 10 bowlers will come back if we get 700 entries 70 bowlers come back. No matter what the top four spots are guaranteed for 58,000 dollars. The top 72 bowlers will make up the finals for the masters tournament in September. If we receive 5000 entries this is how the payoff will look like, The top 72 bowlers will be paid 1500.00 and the 73rd place bowlers all the way to 500th place will be paid 400.00. HUGH stands for "Haven't U Given Him" your money yet?
I think I will pass as it's a little pricey to go cross-country twice in six months.
With a guaranteed top 4 places of $58000 I can't for the life of me understand why all of these so called bowlers seem uninterested in bowling this tournament. At most you will be competeing against 72 bowlers compared to 65000 in USBC and for a whole lot more money than USBC awards for first place. And to spend another 400-500 to come back if you qualify with a chance to take home $20000 sounds like a no brainer. Save some braket money from USBC and plan on using it to return, if you bowl good enough to qualify. I know that the local bowling centers are trying to blackball this tourney and the team challenge tourney being held at another casino by not passing out the flyers to the bowlers. Yes the casinos have the money to put up for these tourneys to support the bowlers, so why not give it a shot. We have all spent alot more to travel and bowl in regionals,high-rollers etc. for alot less money so why not take a shot at something as big as this. I think the local bowling centers forget that the casinos help sponsor the USBC to get the tourney here, they all benefit from it being here with food sales open bowling , side tourneys, bar sales etc., just like in RENO and i don't see any complaints when the USBC is in Reno every 3 years.
Is this a scratch event or a bagger's paradise?
