    Find a member

The find a member feature has been down all day 4/2.  Does anyone know what's going on?

Interesting you bring this up ... I could bring up some names but not others.

    L2B,

This may not be the same issue but awhile ago I had 2 people that didn't come up in the "find a member" search. I called USBC to see if somehow they had been deleted. I was told the bowlers requested to be removed from the search function so they couldn't be viewed.

Wonder why they don't wanna be viewed? I could speculate but will not. If people can not be searched and veiwed, how are we gonna see the proper averages for toureys? Yes they could have league standing sheet or association yearbook. Problem there is they could pick and choose which league/association they show for that purpose. The honor system is great but there are those out there than have no honor.
Maybe the plastic ball tournament will work out better.

     Alt,

I never pusued it further as both bowlers were already in my database but I think it was on the USBC end this happened and not the bowlers choice but I'm not really sure. As a matter of fact I just looked one of them up and can find their name on the "find a member" feature. If anyone did run into this I would call USBC to verify the person.

That is totally rediculious!  If in fact it is true that you can request to be removed then the whole thing might as well be removed.  What good is a partial data base?  What is the guy in witness protection.  What a bunch of Sh**.

What happened to this?  Did it just fade away.

    Dear D.M.:

By the same token, why, then, do they give forum members (and posters) an OPTION as to whether or not they want to be displayed in the Members' List?

For example, anyone can go to Site Options and click "no" under where it says "Display in Members' List." And if you click "no," your name will not be available on the members' list. [RJN825 and Doctor Doom have exercised the "no" option, for example, and that is their choice to do so].

The only thing being listed in the members list gets you, is a ranking in the most active posters list, big deal. Fish I don't need that, I already know, as I'm sure you do, I am very active.

    Dear Doctor Doom:

I'm not criticizing you at all. The option is there for anyone to take (as to whether they are on the members' list or not).

I'm just pointing out that it's not all that different from asking to have your name removed from the "Find A Member" database. Apparently there's an option there, too.

    Dear Doctor Doom:

There. Now I have removed my screen name from the members' list, so prunenow and Bgottry are now listed as the top two all-time posters.

    Big deal!

[Now, Randy can go back "on" the list and take over the No. 1 spot. Again, big deal!]

I don't think it is the same. Removing your name from the USBC data base is akin to trying to hide your average. Removing your name from the forum members list hides nothing except your daily post count, like I said, big deal.
