How did your team fair this year?

    I'm in a small league - 8 teams.

Our team won the league this year.  We had the lowest team average and handicap was 85%.

After week 14, we were 48-50.  The last 15 weeks we went 68-37.  Bowled the right teams at the right times I guess.

I, myself, carried a 200 avg (highest ever for me), and I have a couple of 140s bowlers on my team.  Kinda nice to beat teams who don't allow lower average bowlers on their teams.

We have not yet finished. Right not we are in last place out of 32 teams. Total pins wise we should be in 21st place. We have the lowest average person in the league on our team. That isn't the reason we are doing poorly tho. We have lost a lot of really close games this year. "We will not be in last place at seasons end". Smile

My team finished 2nd in the first cycle and we are in 1st currently with 3 weeks to go in the 2nd cycle.  This is a 24 team scratch league and there is a huge difference in 1st and 2nd place money, $1,500 a man for 1st place, $800 a man for second, so we are bowling for quite a bit of coin these last few weeks.

I posted this in another forum about my league. We were under the impression, at the end of the first half of the season, that we had one the first half. I for one bought a new ball (Ebonite's One) and worked with it the whole second half of the season. Four weeks before the end of the season, we were informed that we did NOT in fact win the first half and that the bowling alley made an error in the talleying sheets. I for one did not accept the excuses given, and was angry because we blew the 2nd half because we figured we were in the championship game anyways.

My team finished first this year in a very small league of 8 teams.  We won the season by 28 points!.  This league insists on not having a split season and every year one team gets so far ahead that no one else has a chance.

Even after winning this season...I am a big proponent of split seasons.  It's much more competitive.  What does everyone else think?

With 8 teams you could maybe make an argument for not splitting.  In my 12 team league we took 2nd both halves (actually tied for 2nd 1st half) and would have been in first had it been a full season.  So that could be sour grapes on my part.  Super Angry  However in larger leagues it is very beneficial to split the seasons IMO.

In my other mens league which is very competetive with most of the best bowlers in town we took 9th out of 26 teams in the 1st half and we are trying to stay out of last in the second half, we have 2 weeks left and a two game lead on the team in last.  We actually have a very good team, we are 7th in scratch pins but every week in the 2nd half it seems we lose 2 games and series, and we are three to four marks away of it us winning 2 games and series.

In my mixed league we also have two weeks left, 36 teams, we took 17th in the first half, we are in 3rd right now with an outside chance at first but most likely trying to move up one spot to 2nd.

After a 6 year absence from the game, the wife and I got back into it. Joined a Sat Nite late league(less kids) with 18 teams. Finished 1st half in 8th place and 2nd half in 6th place. More importantly to me was the fact I improved each week and finished out with a 163 avg. Now I am going imto a PBA experience league for the summer with my two brothers!! Hope to keep on knocking them down...preferably with one shot!!
