Question about new team and prize fund

    Good day,

Quick question for your opinions. We bowl a 36 week split league. We had a vacant team, and a new team was voted in to take over the vacant spot at the start of the second half of the season. Since this team has bowled only 18 weeks of the full season, should they be allocated 1/2 of their positions final prize fund?

Re: Question about new team and prize fund

    Dear woodybowler:

Before I could offer a definitive answer, I'd need to know a number of facts about your league and the situation at hand.

And, in fact, I'd have to know ...

    * whether the team in question paid in full for the entire second half.

    * whether the league paid NO lineage for an 18th team in the first half.

    * whether the "other" 17 teams provided the only source or prize money during the first half.

    * whether the league has any prize money "set aside" for "unearned points" (by teams failing to win points against the "vacant team" in the first half.

    * whether the league pays all of its team prize money on the basis of points, position or both.

As you can see, your question is not easy to answer properly, especially without having all the facts.

[If you don't wish to post a reply to all my queries, you may feel free to contact me, via Personal Message or personal e-mail, and I'll be happy to address your situation more directly].

    Dear woodybowler:

You still haven't answered my further (private e-mail) request for three clarifications.

After you clarify, I will answer further (and if warranted, I'll attempt to post my basic reply in this thread).

Umm, I have not received an email from you concerning that...?

Re: Question about new team and prize fund

    Dear woodybowler:

My sent mail indicates that I responded to you, but perhaps, if a response is made to an e-mail sent via the forums' e-mail system, it doesn't always (maybe not at all) get back to the intended source.

At any rate, I'll ask the same questions I asked in my response to you. Here is what my e-mail said:

    [begin my e-mail]

    Dear woodybowler:

Three more "clarifications" before I answer:

    * Your league has 10 teams (and in the first half, you
had 9 teams and one "vacant team")?

    * When a team faced the "vacant team" during the first
half, did that team have to "earn points" by coming
within so many pins of average? (And if so, as it
stands now, what will happen to the prize money for
those points that WERE NOT WON by a team bowling
    against the "vacant team"?

    * So your prize fund does NOT include money for team
position (in each half OR overall)? And it is paid on
the number of games or points won only (with the
exception of individual and team high games and
    series)?

    [end my e-mail]

I await your response, either here or by e-mail at fishismighty@yahoo.com
