    Blocked/Erased Score Screen

During the tenth frame of the first game, two opposing team members were standing in front of the scoring machine, recording scores.  Our view of the screen was blocked.  Before any of us could see the final scores, they reset the machine for the next game.  Note: the score sheets are Not projected overhead.

The next game - our opposing team finished their tenth frames, (recorded the scores), and then immediately cleared THEIR side of the score screen machine.  My team still had two bowlers waiting to finish the tenth frame.  Once again, they had two members blocking the screen.

Don't we have the Right to verify the *written scores* with the machine scores - Before they're erased?

On another occasion, this same team was bowling poorly, so they covered their side of the Entire score screen with a towel.  Making it impossible for anyone, including them, to verify the accuracy of the pin counts. Since the score sheet is not projected overhead, I don’t understand Why they would do this.

Is this covered in the USBC Rules?   If not, what should we do?

    Thanks for your time.

you do have the right to see the scores. we had the question come up with the card games that are played on the overhead. you cannot block or cover the scores from the opposing team is the answer we got from the rules department.

Our league secretaries get back up scores from the house computer scoring as backups. If there are different scores, obviously go by the computer.

Did you try removing the towel yourself? Or asking them too remove it? Or refusing to sign the recap card saying you can't verify their scores. Ask the president to help. Stand up for yourself. Everybody hates a coward.

Donald: I’ve found a rule that covers the blocked screen/score sheet issue.

    116a. Scoring Process

    In league play:

    1. Scores must be recorded on a
scoresheet in plain view of opposing players.  Yes

    ~~

Bubbiesdad: I spoke with our league secretary after the second game, (where they erased their side of the screen before my team had finished). Her response was “Oh, I‘ve done the same thing myself.” Btw, she did Not tell me the scores could be verified by checking the house computer. ~sigh~  Sad

    ~~

    D. M.:

Did you try removing the towel yourself?    -  Yes! I did.  And the woman put the towel back over the screen.

Or asking them too remove it?    -  Yes! I did.  She got very huffy and said I was being childish for wanting the towel removed.

Or refusing to sign the recap card saying you can't verify their scores.   - Yes! - but silly me: Absolutely NO One, on ANY of the other teams, Signs the Official recap sheet.

Ask the president to help.    - Utoh, I would - but - This woman *IS* the President of the league, and has been for several years.  (No, I'm not kidding; she really IS the league president!)

Stand up for yourself.     - I certainly tried!   The Doctors say I should be fully recovered, from being *shot down*, in about 4 weeks. ~grin~

Everybody hates a coward.     -- Hmmmm, I don’t hate cowards!   But, thank you for letting me know this is a league Rule!

Sharon, I am glad you found the rule. I was running short on time to get to work. I got home tonight and saw you found it and saved me the time from looking it up. You are in a bad situation as the team seams to want to do anything they want. I would ask the counter for copies of the sheets.
