    owner breaking league rules

I have a real dilema.  I work at the local bowling center where I am also a league secretary and the association manager.  Here lately the owner who serves on the Association Board is allowing his employees/friends prebowl, post bowl without my knowledge.  There are two teams that bowl that are related husband/wife, children etc.  who are allowed to do what they want.  Tonight he (center manager)allowed his "favorite" employee, who is mad at me for letting his boss know how lazy he is, come in and prebowl.  I know two of the team members(legal lineup) can be there when the league is scheduled.

I almost resigned as Association Manager a few weeks ago, due to this same problem and I know they team is doing this to get me to quit so the employees wife can take over as association manager.  and to eventually run leagues they way they want.

Since 2 out of the six teams that bowl on that league and he is good friends with one of the other team members (who also works at the center).  How do I go about doing my job as league secretary and association manager by protesting and having them forfeit the pre-bowl.  I was not contacted nor was the President of the league, just this center manager.

I have a feeling that there is a whole lot more going on here. How important is your job to you at the lanes?

USBC rules say the secretary is to arrange the pre-bowl with the center and technically there is suppose to be a pre/post-bowl committee that approves/denies the request. This is rarely the case though. In most of the leagues I bowl in one of the league officers has to be notified prior to any pre-bowling. As neither you(secretary of league) nor the president was notified prior to the pre-bowls, no protest is needed the scores are null and thrown out. A center manager has no control over league rules unless it is a league operated solely by the center. Enforce the rules and if someone has an issue show them the rules. The league officers should show a united front in this issue and the president should take the lead as this is in the presidents duty.

Of course I'm not used to league officers knowing what they are suppose to do much less doing them, and only "enforcing" rules to their advantage while letting others go.

This is a huge problem with our association.  ONe league's nominating commitee was telling people the president only resides during meetings and there's nothing else to do. The vice does nothing, etc.  But I have seen lately that this is being done for only a select few and the manager/owner what ever has been an officer for leagues and the association for 20+ years.  As far as my job with the center -- due to all that is taking place, it may not be as important as I once thought.

kth I am not sure I understood what you were trying to say in your last post.

I think that a new proposal for usbc would be that no center employees or owners can hold an assn offices.  Maybe not league offices either.  Isn't that what they call a conflict of interest.  At least it seem to be in small town America.

I'm not in Michigan, I'm in Maryland. I was born and raised the first 10 years of my life there. I've lived in Baltimore for the past 17 years. I still cling to being from there and rout for the Detroit teams no matter how bad they maybe doing.

Actually, the proprietor of a representative for the proprietor is required to be on the board of directors.

On the board of the assn or the league?  And required by who.  Being on the board and being the tsar are two different things.
