This Goes along with another post I made.
this is a small article I wrote about Practice.
The hardest thing to do is practice bowling the so called right way. as it is boring.a football team doesnt practice a hole game they just practice a peace of the game. or certain plays.
a baseball team splits up its practice and hits balls and catches balls
so in bowling maybe we should do the samething a game of strike ballsa game of 10 pins spares a game of 7 pins sparesand so on
this is a very hard thing to do as it is really boring but it helps i've tried it
What we do in practice is to set up differant skills tests. In first frame you must make a strike by throwing at first arrow only, 2nd frame might be throwing only at third arrow ect. You are not allowed to advance to next shot till you get the strike.
Just throwing balls is practicing, but it is practicing a bowler's bad habits......Working on one or two things each practice session is the way to go. Approach, timing, release positions and targeting are just a few of the things every bowler should practice. Spare shooting is critical to practice. Having another pair of eyes watching will enhance any practice session. The mental game is the hardest to practice because you can't always get in the competition frame of mind. Ever changing lane conditions makes practice tough as well.
In my center we have a variety of lane conditions, on purpose, almost every day. The bowlers here love that option but we aren't the norm......Thanks to a progress owner/GM.

the lowest game I've ever shot in practice was a 35. why did I shoot a 35? first 5 frames I was shooting at the 10 pin, next 5 frames the 7 pin. I also like to find the line on a house shot and then move just to the edge of the line so the if I go right the ball overhooks and if I go left the ball under hooks. It helped me make a house shot semi tough. I also have 5 trike balls and a spare ball. I like to bowl a baker game with my 5 strike balls.
There are different ways to practice and make it worth your time. It's up to each indiidual person to do it
