Questions for bowlers who have already competed in Detroit

I am heading to Detroit this weekend to bowl and was interested in anyone's experiences in playing the pattern they have put down for the tournament.

Also - how are the approach conditions?

Were the squads running on time?

Do they dress the lanes before each squad or just before the morning and evening squads?

If you already bowled - where did you play the pattern and what equipment did you use?

What adjustments did you make as the lanes transitioned and changed?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

It's the hard that makes it fun....if it was easy, everyone would do it

There is a link on this website that shows the lane conditions...it is listed as "Lane Conditions" on the menu.  It shows the oil pattern.  They oil the lanes before all team squads but not before the doubles and singles.  Because of that depending on your squad time (ours was 9:30 p.m.) the lanes break down for double and singels....we had dry lanes.

The squads were running about 1/2-1 hour behind schedule.

The approches were fine no sticky spots.  You need to move more left as the lanes break down.

    Good Luck and Good Bowling

    Approach was fine

Squads wer not on time - 20min-30min behind each time we bowled

they redressed the lanes before both our team & d/s squads but we bowled the same time each day so...

I played from the right strait up over 7 at the end of d/s but for the most part I fished around to find something - got nothing.

best to practice on the condition - wish I would have known about the other alley before we went.

I don't think looking at the graph of the lane condition tells the average bowler anything at all.  It only allows you to possibly get your local center to put out the shot to practice on - however if your center doesn't own a Kegel lane machine they can't exactly duplicate the shot.  I did find a center about 40 minutes away that put out the US open pattern which when I bowled on it I realized that might ball just doesn't grip the lane at all on that shot so my boyfriend ordered me another ball with a different coverstock just to take to Detroit.  We bowl the 16/17 I am hoping that it will work ok.
