prunenow: Doom, they spilled those beans live during and after each of the taped shows to all twenty or so posters and a few hundred viewers, maybe a few hundred more. Not knowing the winners makes the shows more exciting but there are lots and lots of events in many sports and movies rerun over and over and watched over and over. I don't know how many viewers there are but enough to keep reruns of older PBA shows running on ESPN Classic. Being a certiified bowler is much llike being a democrat or republican in that you can disagree, criticize all you want but if you are an American you support your government and when they make mistakes or do things you disagree with you support the correction of those mistakes, do the best you can to make things you don't agree with work and, if you are really active ,when the opportunity arises support or be a part of the attempt to vote the rascals out, vote in men and women you think will be better or be one of those men and women yourself. If a good top to bottom organization had been in place I think the women's series and PBA would be much more successful with much better ratings and PWBA would probably still be in place and thriving. John Summers put much of his own resources into a belief that if he tried hard enough the bowling community would come around but he was doing battle with a lousy system and finally had to give up on spending more millions to support PWBA but still beats the drums whenever he gets a chance to do so for something he believed in which was evident when he was inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame. The owners of the PBA have more resources and have red ink several millions more than Summers absorbed but it won't go on forever and the non support of the bowling community could end up with PBA following PWBA off national television. Doom, you and I cannot make much of difference but 2.5 million you and I's could if they could be persuaded to do so. If the families of those 2.5 million members watched the women's series to support efforts to help women's bowling, rather than at least one lounging by his pool instead, there would be a rush of corporate advertising supporters. If those 2.5 million were to persuade one non bowling family to watch the shows and join them at the bowling center where there was a something or other organization in place to greet and help that non bowling family enoy their experience things in bowling would be so much better but we don't have that kind of organization in place. Doom, yep, again I forgot to triple space which seems to be necessary for my posts not to become one long paragraph. I simply like to engage in point and counterpoint and if it does not come about don't worry all that much about it becoming something else, especially if it comes from anonymous sources.
I'll be taping the women's series today and have encouraged everyone I meet to tune in as my small, very small, role in hoping it will be a successful investment by USBC and turn out well for women's bowling on national tv in the future. If you and guys like skullpants and myself all over this land do the same it will be.

I'm enjoying the finals even though I already know who won. I just like to watch the women bowl. It's inspiring
Here's one for you ... and this is a direct slam at ESPN here ...
I hope your technical folks (or at least your proofreading crew, if you have one) can at least consider spelling Shalin Zulkifli's name correctly in your little mini-scoreboard. She's in the final round, and it would be nice to have her name spelled correctly, even if Bo insists on referring to her by first name because he didn't even try to pronounce her last name.
For those who may not have noticed, the scoreboard spelled her last name "ZUKIFLI", without the first "L" after the "U".
If she's going to come here from Malaysia and appear on not one, but TWO shows, the least you can do at ESPN is spell her name correctly.

Good point Mike, nobody likes having their name mis-pronounced, or nisspelled, especially, on National TV.
As a matter of fact, good doctor, I do work for several lawyers and have most of my adult life -- started out as a court reporter in the Marine Corps back in the 1970s. I don't point errors out on here to the average (or even above average) Joe, but I've seen several over the years, and that's part of what I get paid to do is catch those types of boo-boos. I maintain, however, that ESPN has absolutely no excuse.
Further, as much respect as I have for Bo Burton, I know his former broadcast colleague, the late great Chris Schenkel, would not have skirted the issue (no pun intended) and would have caught the spelling error and brought it up to his guys behind the scenes had he seen the graphic. I'll give them the benefit of a huge doubt by hoping that they see a different scoreboard than the one that is seen on TV.

I totally agree with you on this subject. I have the same issue with Fox News. You can't believe how many times words are misspelled, on the news ticker that runs at the bottom of the screen. BWT I misspelled, misspelled, and nobody saw it, who am I to talk. How are you and Mrs. Me doing, 7 more months, and we all get together again, can't wait, should be a great time. We will have to find another Brazilian Steakhouse, Tucano's was just to good, as Randy and I can attest to. I also believe you did your share, to deplete their inventory.
Brazilian is good -- would have been better had I had an appetite -- but actually, I was thinking Benihana -- Angie (Mrs.-Me) has never been there, and I have some fond memories of the Benihana's in both Newport Beach, CA, and Reno (used to be one in the hotel f.k.a. Hilton).
If the one in Vegas is still there, it's inside the Flamingo.
And for the record, your misspelling of "misspelled" was one of the free passes I was talking about, but since you brought it up ....

Not to butt in but had to throw in that the wife and I too enjoyed Tucanos. Both agreed it was one of the 10 best meals we've "paid" for. Only complaint was not turning that stupid wooden traffic light off soon enough (my fault, not theirs) those folks know how too feed someone.

PS- the Library was pretty cool afterwords for beers also. If you've never seen a N Mexican State Trooper (I think, maybe it was a city cop) on horseback in the middle of the street at midnite, you're missing out. Actually got to see them in action from a dummy who started a fight inside. Bouncers drug him out to the street by the neck and the horses were on that guy in a second. Quite an impressive show to say the least.

Randy was very fond of the grilled pineapple. I hit the Library, when I went to visit Ray. We did not go, the week we bowled, to many bikers, LOL We sat across the street at Maloney's, and watched the traffic, if you get my meaning.
Ahh yes, Maloneys, a great Irish Pub. I seem to remeber something about Girls, loud music and Speakers from right across the alley. I also remember early in the evening wandering down that alley to see what else was down there. Apparently I'm a little dense because the name of the bar and the giant Rainbow didn't prepare me for something I was not ready for and did not want to see. If your unsure of my meaning, I'll PM ya when I get a chance.
