I would hope not, but I do agree with you. The scores will be to low without it, and the last thing they need, is more people thinking they are better than the Pro's.

LMAO, I just thought of something to back up your souped up weight block theory. With a pancake block, I can see one of the lower rev Pro's, miss two boards inside, hit the pocket, and leave a 5-7-10, now that would be a funny sight.

I've have to ask you seriously here. Out of all the people that you associate with in your bowling community, how many have you ever heard say they thought they were better than the pro bowlers? I have too say I've never heard anyone say that around here, yet I read that alot on the forums that it's a commonly heard statement.

...not comparing myself with any pro's but last tuesday I had the front 8 with the Tai Chi and 5-7 split in the 9th and 8-10 split in the 10th. (and i didn't miss by much or so I thought....lol)

I totally agree with you, I have never heard anyone say that here, and we have our share, as you do, of exceptional bowlers, in the area. The quote was said in jest to the many claims of that being said here. I have actually heard only one bowler claim how great he was, and that was proved to be a falsehood.

LOL My Wed. scratch league is a second shift league, so lane conditions are a crap shoot at best. They are dry, and depending on who you follow it can be a real adventure. Wed. the right lane had a puddle at about 25 feet, in the 8 to 12 board area. That is my area of play in that house. I was using my Vibe and hit that puddle, ball skidded into the pocket, 5-7, and I will admit the 10 was slow going out. Next week I am going to bring the Black Diamond, and see what happens, should be interesting.

Well, I'm only bowling once a week now regular. The house we moved to is quite a sight to beholdIck! Anyway, it's still better than nothing. (we mark score by hand, too) grease pencils and all. First shift but they hook pretty good as I couldn't even throw my Tour Power. I'm going the whole season with the Tai Chi or the conventional grip green house ball. I'm gonna' predict 220 or better for the year. We will see...lol

    p.s. if I do I'm going on tour, I mean why not?.......................LMAO

Go for it. The house I bowled in last year had a great shot for a plastic, or hard rubber ball. How ever it had a better shot for the high tech stuff, the carry was better. It would be interesting to try and start a plastic, or rubber ball league, but I am sure the EGO's would get in the way, and nobody would want to bowl. Telescores, man I still have the scars from second degree burns from them bad boys. You know, I believe us older types developed our accuracy from learning to write, without looking at the pencil. I mean if you looked at what you were writing, you would be blind for your next shot.

LOL, I forgot just how hot those things got until last week. We have a rule that we brought back from the old days. If you open you sit there and mark score until someone else screws up. I was clean for the 1st two games so no blindness for me last week.

p.s. the seating arrangments are plastic lawn chairs. (no, I'm not kidding either) Above every set of lanes there are four foot flourecents in the ceiling. (16 lanes) I believe 3 of them are lit up. It's quite the set up. Moonlight league bowling....lol

If this doesn't apply to this "amatuer thread" I don't know what does.

LMAO, Sounds like you are describing the Petersen, when it was in Chicago. Talk about bowling tradition, we just don't have that anymore. Could explain a lot of things, don't you think. Before bowling was an event, today it's show up, drink a few beers, bowl, byotch about lane conditions, and go home. I know times have changed, what with tougher DUI laws, and the such, but I sure do miss bowling pot games on a Friday night, and leaving just as the Juniors were coming in to bowl.

LOL, the original Petersen was nicer than this. All this place needs is the drop down in front so you cant see the pins without crouching and we'd be golden. This place has the hanging cigarette smoke and everything, just like my grandads old place. Above ground ball returns are all that's really missing. Although we do have one of those places nearby if I really want to go the nostalgia route.

Doom, you have a 702 yellow dot bleeder that is not dried up with lots of cracks?  Is it a 5p, the ball of choice at one time.

I never said that someone should be banned from bowling in open scratch tournaments. what I said that anyone who is a professional amateur, because they are not card carrying pros can bowl in amateur tournaments. As they bowl against other scratch bowlers that is fine.  I have just moved to southern florida ( hollywood) and i am wondering down here if there is a handicap and scratch tournament running, if you enter it are you automatically entered in both divisions? that was one rule i never cared for in new england.
