I have been using the TurboGrip Quad Inserts for about a year, in particular, the clear ice color. I have noticed an increase in the number of inserts that are coming out of the ball. Most recently it cost me my first 800 after shooting 243, 299, the front seven before the grip came out on the delivery for the eighth frame leaving the 6,7,10, spare the ninth and fill the 10th for 797. The pro shop uses the Loctite Gel to insert the grips, I use the Loctite liquid when I change my own.
I ususally change the grips at the start of the season and then again about halfway through so I don't think age is an issue.
A couple of reasons have been generated locally by some of my team mates but none with much credibility behind them. The first being that it is the TurboGrip insert itself. The guy does not like Turbo. The second is the color seems to have been an issue for another bowler. Something about the chemical makeup of the Ice color. And the third suggestion has been the use of super glue gel instead of the liquid.
Yesterday I changed everything over to Vise with GripLoc super glue in hopes of fixing the problem. Fortunately none came out last night.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the problem.
turkeyboy, you do not say what ball you are using, but I have some balls that do not take gel and some do not take liquid. I never know until I put the glue in. i think it is the make-up of the coverstock. When I glue inserts in I try to go below the cover and down to the filler or weight block, if that is where the holes are.
We stopped using the gel in our shops because it seemed not to set up very well. When used with slugs we had a lot of slips and movement. The liquid works the best with both inserts and slugs.

Thanks for the response guys.
My thinking had gone the same way about the gel glue but I wasn't going to land there unless someone else had the issue.
As far as the coverstock, I hadn't given that much thought but it could make sense. The most recent event was a Momentum Swing, the one before that was the Gamebreaker and the one before that, the regular Momentum. ddavis300, I will certainly use your suggestion.
By the way are you ddavis300, the Dave Davis, now a senior PBA player?
turkeyboy, I am just lowly Don Davis, a senior bowler in more ways than one. I have passed the magic age of 50 and my son is Don Davis Jr. and I do use Sr. so we can be told apart. He averages a little better than me.

mr. don davis sr.,
it may be true that your son is averaging better than you are and it also may be true that you are not bowling on the senior pba tour. HOWEVER.....
you sir, in the opinion of myself and many others on this board, are NOT lowly. you are a very much respected man by many of us on this board.
Todd, I am humbled by your reply. I am just an average guy who is into bowling in many ways and enjoys the people I have and will meet.
Ps, just don't tell my soon to be ex about bowling as she forgot we met in a bowling center and now tells me i spend too much time with the sport.

I had to ask. I am glad to see that there are others out there like me.
Sorry about the ex thing though. Mine didn't put me in that kind of a bind though. She told me I had to make a decision between bowling and golf. I stuck to the bowling and she goes with me to all of my tournaments and many of my league nights and I like it that way.

I went one step farther. I taught my wife how to bowl instead of her just watching. She's now a great bowler that can hold her own with anyone she bowls agains't from our area. She even shot 758/300 agains't me last year in one of our leagues where we are on different teams.
We bowl doubles alot and she usually puts up pretty good numbers and we never argue about "who's bowling what?" on weekends.
We did bowl a lot together. I worked with her to get a 30+ pin average improvement. She just lost interest in the sport, as well as carpal tunnel surgery. Life goes on and I will get over it, she was my 3rd. I do not think I would of gone to Holland if I was still with her. Many active bowlers out there.

Mine learned as well until a car accident hurt her back. She has recovered from that but has not gotten the nerve back up to try and bowl again after seeing some people stick on the lanes. The last thing she wants to do is injure it again.

I hear you about car accidents. 3 years ago I was at a dead stop and was rear ended by a guy going 40-50 mph while he was talking on his cell phone. Neck and back pain now for me that turns on and off like a light switch. I just roll with it the best I can nowadays.

I had the same thing (rear ended, 45 mph, talking on cell phone, didn't even slow down) happen this past January except I did not suffer any personal injury. My F150 sustained about $15k of issues.
I went through some issues a few years ago with herniated disks in my neck about a month before nationals. I basically lost my right arm, first with pain, then with numbness. After six weeks of intense physical therapy and three cordisone shots, I avoided surgery. The only remaining symptom is I have no feeling on the palm side of my right thumb. Guess which hand I bowl with? All of my feeling in thumb is on the two sides and the backside. It makes a good feel in the ball a little more challenging.
