Our house has a strike pot for women and men. This has not changed for years. Since we have combined to USBC, they still have the men and womens strike pot.
When a womens comes and bowls, she puts her quarter in the womens stike pot and bowls in the "mixed" league.
Well, one women actually hit all the strikes and should have won the strike pot but the proprietor will not give it to her because he claims she wasn't bowling for a womens league. Both jugs, Mens and Womens are on the desk even when which ever league is bowling.
The propietor will not make a desicion and give it to her, he wanted the board (USBC board of directors) make a decision on what to do. He has no rules and still will not give it to her even after we told him to.
What do some other houses do? Any sugestions? Thank you in advance.
Unfortunately, in my area, the practice of having anything "progressive" is illegal under local law. Having said that, smart propietors would NEVER engage in such a practice unless ALL bowlers are eligible to win, no matter what the league or circumstances. If a man wins the men's pot, it should not matter which type of league (mens or mixed) he does it in. If a woman wins the women's pot, it should not matter which type of league (women's or mixed) she does it in.
Your association, if they are smart, will not touch this (and doesn't this proprietor know it). This is HOUSE business, no matter how incorrectly the proprietor is handling it. If your bowler won it fair and square, it will be up to HER to fight it with the house, even if it eventually means taking the center to small claims court.
I totally agree with Mike. The Lady that won this strike pot should fight for her right to the winnings. No matter how bad the house owner handles this, it's her fight not yours.
This is actually the very same thing we decsided in the meetting. I don't know what she is gong to do with it. She is mad enough at the house, I think sheis going to take him to small claims court for the money because it was such a grey area.
The house now have 3 stike pots. One for "MEN", one for "WOMEN" and one for "USBC WOMEN" that bowl in the mixed league.
Thank you for your input.

Gerald,
The question should be this. Did the house accept her money to be in the strike pot? If they did they owe her the money. The cant charge someone an entry fee and then deny them the cash. The center owner is being stupid. If it goes to court he will lose and have to pay her court cost also. Give up the bucks. IMHO
Brian
Of course he took her money! He actually claims that if a women is bowling in an "open" league that he would take the money out of the womens and put the money in the mens strike pot. He doesn't really make any sense but he still refuses to pay her the money.
I will post what happens as this all unfolds. Thank you for all your input. I'm glad that everyone had the same thought that the board had.
Well, the saga has finnaly ended! After a month and a half and surveying all of the womens leagues The bowler who hit the strike pot GOT HER MONEY!!.
He still hasn't figured out what to do with the strike pots because they are not out now. Thank you for all of the input.
