    ABQ hotels

Does anyone have any comments about the hotels in ABQ.  I'm going to make reservations soon and wondered if there is anything to beware of.  Thanks

The host hotel, The Hyatt, is undergoing renovation with an anticipated completion date sometime in April.  Several of our association directors are headed there next week (a few days ahead of my group) and they have changed, or in the process of changing.  (You didn't mention when you were bowling so if it's late enough, this might not be an issue for you.)

The Doubletree has received mixed reviews and there are a couple of threads about it.  And there are several threads about lodging in general.

The Clubhouse on Menaul NE has gotten some good previews and reviews; that's where I will be staying when I get out there late next week.  I'll certainly be happy to post my experience.

    hope that helps

Please do provide feedback as we are staying at the Clubhouse in May.

Will do ... I know someone else has posted their experience at The Clubhouse and it was positive.

    cheers

For what this is worth - my mates are coming out in April and are staying at the Clubhouse.  They asked me to check it out, which I did, including asking to see a room and so forth.  What I saw was consistent with the positive comments I've seen on the forum.  I reported to them and included a couple digital pix of the outside and they didn't change their minds.  I don't know that you'd find anything better for the price here and from what I saw of the facility I'd be comfortable staying there.Smile

The Radisson is also under renovation. The sign out front says it has a waterpark, unfortunately it has not been built yet. Also some of the rooms do not have access to the wireless internet connection. One of the guys in my group moved rooms 4 times trying to get the internet.

My group is staying at the Staybridge Suites on Alameda next week. Will post a review, but they have been very responsive to emails and requests that we have made thus far so hopefully it will be an enjoyable experience. They also allowed us to ship our equipment there with no addtional handling charge. I have heard that some hotels charge for this. We have never had a problem, but that is what I am told. That will be nice since we will bowl our side events prior to Nationals. Staybridge seems like a nice place with sofa sleepers and kitchenettes in all rooms along with either king beds or doubles if I am not mistaken. Normal online rate for us was around $239 and we booked with USBC for $89 and no addtional person charge. Kind of nice when you have 5 people in the room.

We're staying at the Embassy Suites this weekend.  I'll give a report when I get back next week.  Will let you know what I find in the line of restaurants also.  I might even let you know how I bowled.

The Plaza Inn was very reasonable in price and we had a very nice stay. Everyone that worked there was very nice and the shuttle took us literally whereever we wanted to go.. weather it be down to the bars or to the casino 10 miles away. Would recommend to anyone.

I'm staying at the Best Western Barcelona Suites and don't think you can beat the quality, price and location. $69 for 4 people in a two room suite that includes a fully cooked to order breakfast with real eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast, and a lot of other stuff. They are close to the 40 framer, BJ and BTM. No I don't make a dime from bowlers who choose to stay here.

just got back fron abq thought i would write a post about my exprience. we stayed at the clubhouse inn on menaul blvd. the place was awsome. would not hesitate staying there again if ever in abq. the staff was great. i can honestly say i have never felt this way about a hotel.the one couple in our group arrived on sun 3/2 wanted to go to a mall. the shuttle was out so the manager took them in his personal vehicle gave them his cell# to call when ready to be picked up.the breakfast was great as well.they had scrambled eggs, pancakes, bisqiuts and gravy, fruit, toast, cereal, waffles and the meat rotated on one day we had bacon, then sausage links, then ham the next day.the rooms were good size and very clean. beds were also comfy. so if you have not booked your hotel yet this is a great place to stay

Just passing along results of the Best Western Rio Grande.  Their site states they are in the heart of Old Town, however, walking distance is at least a mile.  If you stay there it is best to rent a vehicle. There are no restaurants close by, except inside the hotel. Room service ends at 10 pm. We waited 1 1/2 hours for the shuttle to pick up from the airport. It is hard to say if you can catch them at the hotel, supposedly they run on the "hour". We were also told the shuttle ends at 10 pm. Plan for plenty of time. Cab rides for 5 to 7 miles can cost you between $22-25. You will be at least five miles from the convention center. If you drink, Edgar the bartender will become your best friend.  He makes up for not being able to go do anything else, and I guess being stuck around the hotel -  you will at least be able to meet good people.  The jacuzzi -  well, lets say it kinda looked toxic after the jets started. After all that, the food there was good and the beds comfortable.  Good luck.

Flying out to ABQ on April 8th, staying at the Nativo Lodge. Will post my experience upon return. So far, the pictures of the place are great looking and the fact that it use to be a Wyndham hotel makes me happy.
