i am the league secretary for a pba experience league. i have read the rule book and i have not been able to find anything that covers this. last week, cheetah pattern. team finishes and wants to pre bowl for the league session in a few weeks because several members will be bowling the usbc open that week. they bowled, and i thought that was the end of it. this week, the center manager and a few of the bowlers on other teams felt that it should not count because they did not bowl on the pattern of the week they are going to miss (in this case, the shark). does anyone know what the ruling should be on this? thanks in advance for any help.
I think that needs to be addressed by a league rule. I bowl in two PBAX leagues in different houses and each league covers it in their league rules. One league (a short summer league) allows pre-bowling or make-ups on league night after the league finishes on whatever pattern is down at the time. The other league (32 weeks) allows pre-bowls or make-ups only on the pattern you are pre-bowling or making up for. The house also provides the pattern the league is using on Sundays for pre-bowls and make-ups. I should note that the summer league is basically for fun, not a lot of $ involved.
I can't imagine that any league that calls itself a PBA Experience League would allow pre-bowling or make-up bowling on anything other than the pattern that would have been used if they bowled as scheduled. To allow them to bowl on a pattern other than the one that was scheduled is not fair to the bowlers who bowled as scheduled. It also seems to defeat the purpose of the league and would encourage bowlers who are less than ethical to pre-bowl when they know a pattern is coming up that gives them trouble. The rule for each league should be to either bowl on the pattern that is scheduled or forfiet.
