    Pre bowls

My league has voted in a rule that does not allow pre or post bowls for position rounds. How ever it is allowed any other time. Can the league enforce this rule or does the rule on Pre and Post bowl in the USBC Rule book stand.

    111a. Types

    Types of prebowls and postponements:

    1.   Bowling in direct opposition.

    2.   Team unopposed bowling — permitted, unless the league adopts a rule prohibiting this type of competition.

    3.   Individual unopposed bowling:

a,   Adult leagues, prohibited, unless the league rules state otherwise.

    b.   Youth Leagues, permitted, unless the league rules state otherwise.

    and there's this

    111b. Reason

A league cannot adopt a rule that would have the effect of not permitting any prebowling/ postponements. The league must grant a prebowl/postponement when the team is unable to field a legal lineup for the following reasons:

    1.   Some of its bowlers are participating in the USBC Championships, state or local association championship tournaments or attending an annual meeting.

    2.   There is sufficient cause.

    3.   An emergency situation.

    Re: Pre bowls

That was what I was thinking. They are allowing pre bowls on normal nites but position rounds there not. I was pretty sure that you could not over rule the 11b rule.

Does your league have a pre/post bowl committee in accordance to the rules? This committee, not the bowlers who want to pre-bowl is suppose to rule whether or not there is sufficient cause for a pre-bowl even if pre-bowls were allowed on position night. An emergency rarely would allow time for a pre-bowl so it would most likely lead to a post-bowl. I see nothing wrong with not allowing pre-bowls on position nights especially if the majority of the league/board of directors voted this as a rule.

If I may ask, what is your reasoning for bringing up this topic?

Cicada hit it on the head ...  you can restrict it to say that teams must do so head to head,  but you can't prohibit it.

    cheers

    Re: Pre bowls

Our board is the ones who determine if a pre bowl can happen.

    Re: Pre bowls

two of the team members cannot be there becuase of there son has a school function and they want to be there with there child. My wife has to work and only leaves 2 of us to bowl. But with my wife being at work I have to watch my 6 year old and there is no nursrey at the center. So I cannot bowl of a 6 year old who has downs and requies supervision. So that leaves one member to bowl and cannot field a legal lineup.
