    Re: Steve Donahue

Does anyone have any information on this deadbeat embezzling from the 2008 NY State Tournament prize fund?  I guess we know why he was removed from office.  It is a shame that a great bowling state like New York can be tarnished by the acts of one individual.

I don't think there is any better example of the need for presidents and auditors for leagues and local/state associations to be vigilant when they accept elected and appointed roles.  I also think there is no need to get a long line of posters commenting on individual tragedies on Bowl.com,

I may know as much and more than most posters on Bowl.com on this situation and hope I don't get engaged at all in correcting posts that are based on nothing more than guessing, the kind of thing that went on with Robert Mushtare that brought into play many other individuals besides  Robert for character assasination.

Well stated Don, no character assasination is needed!  Questions to find out the facts are important. You can keep yourself from "correcting" posts, right or wrong, by sharing what you know as fact! You should never feel that you are the only poster with the facts or an opinion about the situation at hand.

Paul, I don't know all the facts, do not need to know all the facts and there is no need for me or anyone else to know the facts beyond the Syracuse Bowling Association, NYS Bowling Association, USBC and the men and women directly involved with Steve Donahue in whatever he is accused of.

It is one thing for men and women on this forum to discuss issues, another to discuss individuals where more than opinion is needed to be fair to those individuals.  For better than two years the Robert Mushtare situation was kept alive by men and women who knew little about what they were posting about, slandering Robert, his family, employees at the bowling center, USBC employees involved in the inspections, bowlers at the center, witnesses to some of the bowling, conjecturing on how he might have cheated,  etal while knowing very little for a fact and really having no business to be advised of  the facts.  When I took over as executive in Syracuse there was a file drawer dedicated entirely to previous suspension cases that I could have browsed through for my personal 'amusement' but I did not do that and all over this land there are files in local, state, national  associations similar to what some on Bowl.com think should be available to them for their 'amusement'.

When the 'Fish' brought up what he thought was a violation there was discussion on it, then it became a real named person, then it turned out to be the manager of the local bowling association he often bashes, many, at least me, tricked into posting on something I would never have done if it was about a real person with very little information available from parties other than the 'Fish'.  That could and should have been something between the 'Fish' as an accuser, the association manager, USBC and the board members of the league, not us few posters on Bowl.com. when it concerned a particular person.

Paul, while I don't know all that much, I will recognize shots taken at Donahue as legit with real bullets or blanks with no validity  o guessing passed on as facts  While I cannot stop legit shots that I don't think belong on Bowl.com, I will holler 'foul' when I recognize them to be so much hooey.

If it is true that you do not know all the facts and do not need to know all the facts how could you pretend to be able to correct post made by others who may or may not know the facts? Wouldn't you need to know the facts in order to do the correcting?

Skullpants, that's true and I only said if something was posted that I knew to be not true I would make it known it was so much hooey.  If someone knows more than I do and chooses to post it so be it but I doubt if anyone with more knowledge would post it anymore than I would post what I do know.

perhaps it was the "and more" that caught the attention.

That almost sounds like you might be saying that those who do have more knowledge than yourself might be pleading the 5th if asked for such information. Would it be safe to assume that there is a very large rug in the Syracuse associaton office?

As a member of the Syracuse BA, it is unfortunate that ANOTHER "incident" has occurred.  This is a great bowling city, rich with history and tradition.  The "Donahue Incident" along side with the "Stachnik" issue (both of them) have stained our image.

As for Mr. Donahue....I can recall a conversation I had with Mr. Donahue in August of 2007 in Flamingo Bowl....just weeks before the start of the 2007-2008 bowling season.  Donahue was more then vocal about his disdain for what occured in the association w/ the Stachniks.  His rants went on to include Secretary's who didnt follow rules about calling in scores, bowling centers who cheated on lane conditions, pot games and 50/50 raffles were people were skimming, and other "problems".

All I can say is....what a hypocrit!!!!!!  This clown wags his finger at people who skim a few bucks or an entry off the top in brackets, 50/50 raffles, and the previous Association Manager....all the while this bozo is stealing in excess of $300,000 !!!!!     Good riddance!!!

I am shocked that Syracuse has so many problems. Embezzlement, skimming, cheating lane conditions in a bowling city so rich with history and tradition. It almost sounds like a storyline from the movie Kingpin.

    Re: Steve Donahue

Thank you for the information Xatwill.  We have members in our BA that were looking forward to receiving their 2008 NYS tourney prize checks.  I wonder what happens now?  We thought it was quite strange that Mr. Donohue was absent on the last weekend of the tournament.

To Mr. Gates - this was not intended to be a personal attack.  Just looking for some valuable information and please stop bringing up Robert Mustare.  Many people are tired of hearing about him.

Noogle, no problem with seeking information about NYS tournament prize money but why seek it on Bowl.com?  I think you might have better luck if you were to contact the president of the NYS Bowling Association.

It would not break my heart if the webmaster was to remove this thread altogether,

Noogle, as a state tournament entrant you have a right to be concerned and a right to know when you can expect to receive your prize money.  On the NYS website there is a phone number for the president and listing of board members.  Call the president and/or contact the board member for your area for the info you are looking for.

    Re: Steve Donahue

    Don,

Believe me we have already tried contacting the NYSBA offices.  We were told that they were verifying averages and final standings would be released shortly.  Well that was over one month ago and it was obvious that there was some sort of trouble.  A number of rumors started to circulate and I felt it was better to try and obtain some valuable information instead of listening to rumors.  Since you know more than most posters on here, can we expect to see any prize checks or has all of the money been stolen?  Please advise and thank you for your expertise.
