When will the finals air and who are the announcers?? Haven't seen or heard anything from USBC or ESPN. Where are the media gurus responsible for making people aware of this event??
Hi Hoop,
The finals start this Sunday at 2 pm I think and will run for 5 weeks. As for the announcers I have heard nothing.
Brian
Oldhoop2, burton and holman on the mikes, cathy dorin-lizzi on the sidelines..entire schedule on the top front page of Bowl.com that also mentions time change to 2pm on ESPN for this coming Sunday..

My wife just told me that NASCAR is going to be on ESPN at 2PM on Sunday. Obviously only one of them can be on.
They were getting rain in Richmond, so no qualifying.

That non-sporting race thing is going to start at 1300/1pm tomorrow, with another non-sporting race event at 1900/7pm tomorrow night in Richmond. ESPN announced this last night during the college football game.
cheers
I do not intend to tune in to that bowling thing as I suspect that it will not be all that interesting to watch. Instead I will most likely be lounging beside the pool enjoying the beautiful weather.

Was that college football game also a non-sporting event?
Doom, I bet I know who wins the simi finals and the finals. A better post would be after your asking all the bowlers you meet if they know (don't tell them if they don't) and if they even knew about the shows (let them know if they don't); reveal on here your findings as a measure of how much local effort was made by your local associaton (could have been included in league kits) and your centers ( could have been printed on bulletin boards and from the control desks) to promote the shows....and still could for this and the PBA shows.
I have seen posters in 2 of the 4 centers I have bowled in recently.
The two out belong to the same parent company.

Terrell-Kearney advances at U.S. Women's Open Kim Terrell-Kearney defeated Diandra Asbaty to advance to the semifinals of the 2008 U.S. Women's Open, a USBC event. WOW What a shocking revalation. I bet I know who wins her semifinal non-sporting event.
Just for discussion sake Webster the number 1 dictionary says.
skullpants, very good post, hope all your folllowers enjoyed lounging at your pool instead of watching a show you 'knew' to be not interesting. Perhaps, if you had set the television out for your one follower, your dog if you have one, it might have found the show more interesting than just laying around with you doing nothing.
Why you hang around posting on Bowl.com pretending to be something you are not is beyond my understanding. Do you think anyone really needed to know you were not going to watch the show, anyone believes you are a wolf rather than a sheep pretending to be a wolf? Are you hoping many agree with you and the series is an expensive failure thanks to folks like you who do nothing to help it succeed but contribute to its failure? Would you stand tall and proud if you contributed to its failure? Would you lounge by your pool and sulk if it succeeded in spite of you?
Well Don I had a very enjoyable time not watching women's bowling on TV and I doubt that watching would have added anything to my day. No Don, I do not have a dog, but if I did it is unlikely that he would be a fan of women's bowling.
I hang around posting my thoughts on bowl. com because I can Don. Those who did not need to know that I was not going to watch the show also did not need to read my post if they did not want to do so. No Don, I do not care if it is an expensive sucess or an expensive failure, but I do not like the way USBC is wasting money trying to promote women's bowling especially in light of the fact that USBC has all but eliminated men's bowling. No Don I would not stand tall and proud if I were to contribute to the failure of this event since causing its failure does not present much of a challenge. No Don I would lounge by my pool in total amazement if this event was a success in spite of itself.
I enjoyed what I saw yesterday.
I didn't enjoy what I heard.
Cathy Dorin Lizzi doesn't need to be on the telecast. She loses the audience with her analysis. Ball products are way over the heads of most bowlers. I preached this years ago when she was on the PWBA telecasts, talking about "Defense" oil. She doesn't understand how to talk to the average fan. Johnny Miller does the job for golf - you don't hear him talking about X-20 irons.
O'Keefe cracked me up when she told Marshall she didn't remember his anger issues on tour.
Then Marshall joined in on not being relevant to fans by telling her she was too young to remember. Well gee Marshall, that's a good way to turn off the under 25 year old audience demo.
Bo was better as the anchor than he was last year. It's taken him a while to master television PBP and he sounded good.
I don't know who produces the telecasts but this is 2008 and they need to do a better job of coaching how to broadcast to an audience rather than how to broadcast to bowlers.
Hi Don Griffin!
I think it is kind of funny, that Bowl.com is posting articles about this event in real time. I mean this event took place over a month ago. I am sure that most bowlers know the eventual outcome. A little anti-climatic, don't you think. Yes Don, due to the nature of the final match, I am sure that most people who would follow televised bowling, know the outcome already.
